Dear Mr. Hanks,
Having watched this morning the D-Day ceremony honoring those who served during the invasion of Normandy, I was drawn to the story of Jim Norine (sp.?)who, despite failing health, traveled yesterday, as he did each year, to honor his fallen comrades at the cemetery above the beaches of Normandy. Having done so, he returned to his hotel to pass on in his sleep during the night. I noticed that you were among those at the cemetery today for that ceremony, and, because of your two WWII movies telling the important stories of the men who saved the world from the infamous Nazi regime, am wondering if there is an additional story to tell about Jim Norine’s valor and dedication…as people were indicating this morning, each story is a golden nugget to be shared with the rest of the world lest we forget. I don’t know of a better person than you to tell his story…one more movie about these heroes is not excessive!
